The Q Files Pt.005: Fly12 Testing Testing 1, 2, 3

January 7, 2016

Ahhhhhh 2015 … Where did you go??

The past quarter has disappeared before our eyes and Cycliq staff have been racing (not on bikes unfortunately) around the clock in order to deliver Fly12 to the market place! We are so proud of this product and we believe as cyclists, who have built this product for cyclists, that you too will be happy with the final product.

One of the coolest aspects of my job is the need for on board testing. This means, grabbing my bike, mounting Fly12 front camera and bike light prototypes in as many different ways as possible and hitting the road and/or trails.  Often, several times a day is required dependant upon updates and modifications provided by our technicians. Combining hardware and software in ways never attempted before is no mean feat…. “cause and effect” is in full cycle (pardon the pun).

Bluetooth and WiFi

The Fly12 unit boasts both Bluetooth and WiFi Connectivity which will allow cyclists all the tools they need to share their experiences from out on the road!

Check out this short clip on January 5th 2016 testing a pre-production Fly12 with the Otoc Vault Junior Development Team based in Perth, WA.

Smart Phone Companion App

The CycliqPlus Smart Phone App has come a very long way in the past month. The release product is certainly going to provide an interactive platform allowing cyclists to share their rides with the world on the “Fly”. We live nowadays in what I like to consider the social media spectrum and allowing cyclists to share their experiences (both good and bad) in a succinct hassle-free manner is something we wanted to bring to the table. Many products currently exist with features not necessarily practical for the modern day cyclist – this is where Fly12 comes into its own!

As challenging as it has been to develop an app that primarily offers a user friendly experience, the end product results in full 1080P HD videos that you can edit straight from your smart phone in just a few simple minutes.

The pictures below highlight some of the stages/ user interface of the CycliqPlus Smart Phone App.

Fly12 Packaging

There are several other very cool/ unique features that I can’t tell you about just yet, so I will leave you with this image of a packaging prototype. You can expect to see something quite similar in a bike store near you in the not too distant future.

Thanks and ride safe!
